Around Woodlay

Whether you come to Woodlay to fish or simply enjoy a relaxing holiday in this stunning valley, there are lovely walks from the apartments down to the lakes. You can sit, read and soak up some sun around the lakes or stroll down the valley into beautiful woodland.

From there, you can take a path into Deerpark Forest where there are many miles of forest track. It’s also possible to walk down the valley to Looe, from where you can access the South West Coast Path. Around the lakes and woodland, you’re likely to see deer, owls and birds of prey like buzzards and hawks, as well as the kingfisher and heron. The Barn’s birdfeeders at Woodlay are very popular with many varieties of wild birds too!

The valley is filled with daffodils, primroses, foxgloves and rhododendrons in spring and the woodland at Woodlay is a carpet of bluebells in May. Hydrangeas and fuchsias provide a blanket of colour through the valley in the summer.

We love dogs at Woodlay and are delighted to welcome you and your hairy family-member on holiday. There are some wonderful dog-walks through the valley and we would be happy to advise you on the best walking routes and dog-friendly beaches nearby. We may also be able to offer a dog-sitting service if you’d like an evening out.
